Arizona Golf Course Review
General information
The Omni Tucson National Resort & Spa is one of Southern Arizona's top resort properties, situated in an idyllic environment reflecting the beauty of the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains. On property are two beautiful
championship golf courses - each with its own unique design. The Catalina Course is a traditional, tree lined
layout that has hosted the PGA Tour's Chrysler Classic of Tucson since 1976. The Sonoran Course is a
spectacular high desert design featuring significant elevation changes, meticulously landscaped desert scenery and incredible mountain views.
Together these two layouts provide golfers with challenge and variety. The diversity in design could not be more
pronounced! Also on property are great practice facilities, including a grass range, putting green and beautiful
short game area conducive to bunker practice, chipping from a variety of slopes and pitching from up to 60
yards away. The resort features 167 wonderful appointed guest rooms, casitas and haciendas, a bar and two
restaurants, fully equipped fitness center and luxurious spa, outdoor swimming pools with hot tubs, three
championship tennis courts plus versatile meeting/special event facilities. For more info on the resort, visit our

SONORAN COURSE
The Sonoran Course is the new layout at Tucson National - and presents a stark contrast to the traditional
Catalina design. This is a high desert layout featuring beautiful golf holes over an undulating terrain with
significant elevation changes from tee to green. The landscaping and finely manicured conditioning make for a special experience.
The cart paths take golfers up and down the hillsides of the resort/residential community while serving up
panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Desert flowers were in full bloom during our April visit, creating
aesthetic beauty that complimented the natural scenery. Many of the fairways are sloped in one direction or
another, and most green complexes are very well protected by sand bunkers. 68 sand traps are situated
greenside or along the contoured fairways, and water comes into play on the par three 6th and par five ninth.
On course yardages are provided through blocks on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards and sprinkler heads
are also measured to th front, middle and back of the greens. Red, white and blue flags indicate front, middle
and back pin placements. There are 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6552
yards/127 slope, 6065 yards/122 slope for men and 131 for women, 5240 yards/109 slope for men and 119 for
women, and 4579 yards with a slope of 106 for ladies playing from the forward tees.Yardage guide booklets are
available for a fee and are helpful. Each golf cart also provides ball and club washers.
As the yardages and slope ratings indicate, this is a far more playable layout - and is player friendly for women.
We found the design to be captivating and a lot of fun to play! The course is open to the public, and stay & play
packages at this beautiful resort are available. For more info, visit our page for the Sonoran Course, with direct
