The Phoenician Golf Club | Arizona golf course

The Phoenician Golf Club in Scottsdale is a gorgeous Troon-managed course, and the centerpiece of The Phoenician – a newly redesigned, AAA Five Diamond destination featuring contemporary accommodations and a variety of new amenities. Guests of the resort can enjoy diverse dining, a three-tiered pool complex and a premiere three-story spa; as well as a state-of-the-art athletic club featuring a 4,600 square-foot fitness center, seven tennis courts and two pickleball courts. Other offerings include a two-acre Cactus Garden, a Kids Club  -- and comprehensive business and event venues across 160,000 square feet of interior/exterior function space. For more information on the resort, click here to visit their website.

The desert-inspired golf course winds through the resort property and features 18 holes with manicured conditioning, finely tuned landscaping, and outstanding mountain and city vistas.  For the redesign, previously existing fairway corridors were used to reroute the golf course and develop new golf holes with re-contoured fairways as well as rebuilt and resurfaced green complexes. Greens now feature TifEagle grass putting surfaces that allow for additional pin placements; while tees, fairways and roughs are 419 Bermuda grass . All tees and bunkers were repositioned to provide the best strategy for each player's skill level.  The Phoenician's golf shop, locker rooms and 19th Hole snack shop have also been renovated and expanded, with a new clubhouse restaurant, The Phoenician Tavern..

Originally created by Ted Robinson Sr. and Homer Flint, with a redesign by Phil Smith, the 18-hole championship golf course features water hazards in play on five holes, with 63 sand bunkers located near the landing zones on the plush, rolling fairways, or situated greenside. A new fleet of carts helps control the speed on the hilly terrain, and a mounted GPS system provides accurate information from tee to pin. The back nine especially plays up and down the mountainside, with spectacular vistas of Phoenix and the surrounding desert.

The four sets of tee areas play to distances and slopes measuring 6518 yards/128 slope for men and 138 for women,. 6003 yards/124 slope for men and 134 for women; 5369 yards/119 slope for men and 131 for women; and 4594 yards/105 slope for men and 122 for women hitting from the forward tee boxes.  With reasonable slope ratings and incredible scenery combined with exquisite service, amenities and playing surfaces, this course can be enjoyed by all levels of players. Golfers will encounter several elevated tees and some forced carries over desert areas, especially from the two back tees.

The layout finishes with some spectacular holes, including the par three 16th which plays over a pond.  The par five, dogleg right 18th has a new bunker, with an existing lake that was pushed more to the right to create a much larger landing space for tee shots. Golfers visiting the area but not staying at the resort can call for tee times or book online https://phoenicianbest.ezlinksgolf.com/index.html#/search?ES=LPS_PHXLC_EN__LINK_NAD . But we do recommend a stay here. This resort has much to offer !
