The desert inspired golf course winds through the resort property and features 27 holes with manicured conditioning and finely tuned landscaping, along a
rolling terrain with outstanding mountain vistas. On property is a full service practice facility that includes a targeted grass range with complimentary balls,
short game area, plus putting green. The clubhouse features a well stocked pro shop (named Top 100 by GolfWorld Business Magazine) , dining area
with lounge and outdoor patio, plus locker rooms with showers for men and women. This property has been honored as "North America's Leading Golf
Resort" by the World Travel Awards, and has been named as one of America's Top 75 Golf Resorts by Golf Digest.
Designed by Ted Robinson Sr and Homer Flint, the 27-hole golf course features 3 distinctive nines that play to18-hole combinations ranging from 4787 to
6262 yards, with slopes measuring from 114 to 132. The photos in this review are of the desert and Canyon nines. The yardages here measure 6068
yards/129 slope, 5691 yards/122 slope for men and 135 for women, and 4777 yards with a slope of 117 for ladies hitting from the forward tees.
Along the 27 holes, there are 105 sand bunkers and numerous sandy waste areas. These hazards are located near the landing zones off the tee and also
situated greenside, strategically protecting the undulating green complexes, which also feature significant mounding and grassy swales. Water hazards
come into play on five holes.
Pin placement charts are mounted on all the golf carts, and 150 yard poles are situated on the fairways of all par fours and fives, Sprinkler heads are
measured to the center of the green. Golfers will encounter several elevated tees and some forced carries over desert areas. Overall this is a very
playable layout and an excellent resort golf experience.
On the Desert nine there is a significant climb up the hillside that leads to terraced elevated tees playing adventurously downhill to a beautiful par three.
Between the 7th and 8 holes golfers can check out the gorgeous cactus garden situated behind the resort property. The 8th is also a par three that
features rock walled elevated terraced tee areas.
The Canyon nine also features a significant uphill climb along with beautiful desert mountain vistas from the 5th, 6th and 7th holes. Number 8 is a daunting
palm lined par three with carry over a pond, and nine is a signature par five that doglegs to the right along a lake, with plentiful bunkering along the way.
The approach is also over a water hazard.
The Phoenician is a resort course that is open for public play. For more info visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
