LONE TREE GOLF CLUB (480-219-0830)
Arizona Golf Course Review 2/25/05
Lone Tree Golf club in Chandler is an 18-hole user friendly championship golf course featuring generous
fairways that wind through a Del Webb residential community. Located about 8 miles off I-10 down Riggs
Road, Lone Tree is one of the areas best value courses, with 2008 rates topping out at just $90 + tax prime time.
Golfers will find level lies along rolling fairways that often provide a "bowl effect" due to mounds and desert waste banks, that often slope towards the middle. Gorgeous mountain backdrops are present on
many holes, as evidenced by the photos above. Over 50 sand bunkers line the fairways or are positioned greenside - many high lipped and penal in nature. An equal amount of green complexes
provide easy entry however, allowing for bump and runs and easy recoveries. Five holes have water in
play, although an additional two also had water hazards on our visit, as the metro Phoenix area was hit with a steady dose of rain for nearly 3 straight weeks in February.
4 sets of tee boxes are sculpted from the landscaped desert, with yardages and slopes measuring 7007 yards/123 slope, 6465 yards/118 slope, 5941 yards/113 slope and 5001 yards with a slope of 123 for
ladies playing from the forward tees. On course yardages are marked to the center of the green on sprinkler heads, and 150 yard stakes are visible on all par fours and fives. Pin placements are indicated
on carts posted in each golf cart, with 6 hole locations rotated daily.
The clubhouse includes a pro shop plus a restaurant/lounge with a sportsbar atmospherethat features full
breakfast and lunch menus. Breakfast is served daily from 7 to 11 AM and lunch from 11 to 5:30 PM. The
practice facilities are comprehensive, with a targeted grass range, large new putting green, chipping green, plus short game area with sand bunker.
Lone Tree is the home of 2005 and 2006 Arizona Golf Association Stroke Play Championship and is again hosting the FBR Open PGA Tour qualifier in 2007. It is an enjoyable course, especially for mid to
high handicappers. For more info, visit our page for Lone Tree with direct link to their website by clicking here.
