LEGEND AT ARROWHEAD (623) 561-1902
Arizona golf course review
The Legend at Arrowhead is a wonderfully designed championship layout. This Arnold Palmer course winds along a diverse, rolling terrain that is dotted
with numerous sand bunkers (61 in total), with water coming into play on 8 of the holes. Though many of the fairways are level, there are some elevation
changes from tee to green. The mountain views are gorgeous, and many of the putting complexes are framed with strands of tall palm trees.
The course plays through an upscale residential community, which as the photos below indicate, is wonderfully landscaped. Golfers will find well
conditioned fairways and greens, which are medium in size and speed, and mild in slopes and undulations. Greenside mounding is abundant, creating the
need for accurate approaches and for a good short game.
The clubhouse at the Legend features a small pro shop, plus the Legend Grille, which serves hot and cold sandwiches, snacks and beverages. An
outdoor terrace is also available for dining and for outings. The views from this patio, with a pond separating the clubhouse from the gorgeous ninth green
, are beautiful. Practice facilities include a grass range, plus a huge putting and chipping green.
There are some memorable holes here, one of which is the par five sixth, which features a green complex fed by a narrow corridor bordered by water on
both sides (pictured below). I will always remember the 161 yard 4th hole - as my Michigan playing partner (John Murphy) scored his one and only hole in
one on this par three. The ninth and eighteenth are great finishing holes for either side, with formidable water hazards in play greenside.
Rates are extremely reasonable for a course designed by Arnold Palmer - with such an abundance of beautiful golf holes. Six sets of tees range in
distance and slope from 7005 yards/131 slope to 3300 yards/108 slope.
We highly recommend a round here. For more info, visit our page for the Legend on our web catalog of courses to play in Arizona by clicking here
