KOKOPELLI GOLF CLUB (480) 926-3589
Arizona Golf Course Review
Kokopelli Golf Club is a timed honored championship design that is highlighted by 7 serpentine lakes which are featured on property. Conveniently located just minutes from
Arizona State University and Sky Harbor Airport, this is one of the best values in the Valley of the Sun.
On property is a full service club house with pro shop and restaurant serving hot and cold sandwiches, snacks, and beverages (including beer). Practice facilities include a grass
driving range and putting/chipping green. As the photo below indicates, the area surrounding the clubhouse and is lushly landscaped, creating a favorable first impression. This is
fitting as the meaning of the word "kokopelli" is associated with the increase and fertility among people, animals and plants. The kokopelli is the mysterious, humpbacked flute
player of the southwest, and has been a sacred figure to Native Americans since prehistoric times. His rainmaking insures good crops...
The golf course was in great shape on our visit. Water comes into play significantly on 9 holes, and greenside mounding, swales and bunkers also add to the challenge. Sand
bunkering is understated as 23 soft sand traps are located along the fairways or greenside. The fairways are quite generous, as they wind through a residential community, with
the homes located on the perimeter. 4 sets of tees play to 6716 yards/132 slope, 6228 yards/128 slope, 5805 yards/125 slope, and 4992 yards/120 slope. As the slope ratings
indicate - golfers will have to perform well to score low.
On course yardages are posted on the sprinkler heads and on blocks in the fairways at 100 and 200 yards - with 150 yard stakes doubling as directional devices on all par fours
and fives. ProLink GPS on all carts also provides accurate yardages from tee to pin. For the money - this is a wonderful golf course, and highly recommended by the Two Guys
